Edward J Cairnduff (Aka EJ Cairns) – Limited Edition Labels

We are proud to announce a collaboration with famed Australiana Outback Painter Edward J Cairnduff (Aka EJ Cairns). Back in 2018, Ed painted 'Ned goes into bat for Lyrebird Cricket' and in 2021, we came up with the idea of featuring that painting as a limited edition bat label. We agreed that we needed a second image for the back of the bat, hence 'Ned’s 2nd innings' and number two in the Kelly Outback Series.

The following images show Ed’s original hand drawn concept sketches with his idea of how the paintings might look, up to the final magnificent works of art he has skillfully produced for us. We have now taken those images and turned them into front and back labels, which we will release on ten handmade, grade 1, custom cricket bats. (Cost $750)

Each bat has a facsimile of Ed’s signature and is individually numbered. Lyrebird Cricket is absolutely delighted with the results and is very honoured that Ed has allowed us to reproduce his fine works as cricket bat labels.

Many thanks Ed for allowing this project to take place.

About Ed in his own words

‘Brought up in the Gold mining town of Kalgoorlie Western Australia. The experiences and journeys into the great Aussie outback have given me a deep insight and respect for the people who choose to work and live their lives in the mighty Australian bush. I too have lived and worked in some of the most remote places in our great land. I draw from my travel experiences which range between the coast and the centre of our wonderful continent. In particular the colors of the inland and its desert have left a colorful impression.

I try to capture the Aussie sense of humor. It’s an integral part of the outback character, with a happy go lucky, she’ll be right mate outlook on life.’
